Diversi Consulting were engaged by Laing O’Rourke to design some of the enabling works for the new Sydney Light Rail (SLR) project. One of the 12 sub-projects for the enabling works was the Moore Park Tennis Centre. This design work was to allow for the new light rail route along Anzac Parade, so it was therefore necessary to relocate the Moore Park Tennis Centre car park and the adjacent netball complex amenities building.
The carpark works included: earthworks, stormwater drainage pits & pipes, new pavements (some consisting of permeable pavements), footpaths and disabled parking. Diversi were also engaged to design the retaining walls, kerb and gutters, lines/signs, lighting, new trunk stormwater drainage culverts and fences.
The amenities building comprised a single storey brick building, steel frames, with a concrete raft slab on piers standing over the existing trunk drainage culverts. The building design included change rooms, office, store room, canteen and utilities.
Diversi Consulting provided civil, structural, hydraulic and electrical engineering design services for the works. By providing a comprehensive design solution, Diversi were able to provide the design in a tight timeframe and work with the difficult site constraints to further minimise the structural elements. Diversi customised the building design to be constructed over and around the existing trunk stormwater culverts (which were heritage listed) and build over the uncontrolled fill in the area.
